Yule Day 10: The Season

The SAPA community has been getting in touch with these historic roots over the giving season. Rather than focusing on commercialism, we have been fostering relationships through our events and our personal lives. Leif, for instance, hosted the Board Potluck on Monday. We gathered together to celebrate how close we've grown as a family. We feasted, made toasts and boasts, and offered to our Gods, and to the land and spirits that host us. That night, we joined the family at Didi's Playhaus to watch Midsommar together and have thoughtful discussions about mental health and how Paganism is represented in the media. New connections were made, and we hope our guests took away a greater appreciation for other cultures, ancient practices, and the value of being held by a found family that understands your experiences.

The day before was about the creation of presents, magical in nature. Our Yule Bazaar craft night was a roaring success! All kinds of crafts were made for friends and family. Community members improvised music together, and helped one another fashion crafts. It was a great chance to spend time with the youth of our community, and see faces we don't normally have at in person events. This weekend coming, we will be taking fragrant, flammable supplies from the craft night and setting them ablaze in a bonfire that will warm us through to the coming spring, rejoicing in the gracious gifts of the Earth.

New traditions are being born, old traditions revived. SAPA is honoured to be a part of this cultural shift to embrace the Yule spirit, and excited to see what future years hold! The bonds of family, the spirit of generosity, and the timelessness of love are with us this season. We hope our community feels as embraced by us as we feel by them.
